Alex & Jon had a most fabulous and funtastic Carriage House Inn wedding in Calgary this Spring – and what a day filled with hilarious moments, over the top zaniness, and all personality – AWESOME!
We seriously love when couples honour their love, and their story with a wedding that is perfectly ‘them’. An elevator no look first look, a live-singing band surprise, breakfast for dinner, a breakdancing groom – just a few of the amazingly awesome ways Alex & Jon honoured their love & their story!
We knew not to expect any less from when we first met Alex & Jon at the Calgary Bridal Expo and they excitedly told us their dreams of a Zombie-inspired shoot (stay tuned for our post-wedding Celebrate session with these two!) and then again when we met them for their Banff engagement session at Johnson Lake – click here to revisit their engagement photos.
For their wedding day, Raf first joined them for getting ready photos and then they wanted a no-look first look – that is, they wanted to have a photo and a moment together but without seeing each other face to face. We came up with the idea of using the elevators – which of course, provided much hilarity as the elevator Jon was in kept being called away (with him in it) just as they were lining up the photo haha awesome!
Following a meaning-filled indoor ceremony at the Carriage House Inn, Alex arranged for an awesome surprise for Jon. She invited a local live band to sing “All You Need is Love” on their recessional into the mingling area outside the ceremony room. Funny story from this point was that Jon was so excited about having just married his love Alex, that it took him way long to actually realize what was happening outside the room for them. LOVE it! These two are seriously the BEST!.
For post-ceremony photos, Alex & Jon, their funtastic wedding party, and Raf piled into the limo and headed to Fish Creek Provincial Park – such a pretty green space and what a treat to have such beauty bluebird skies, wispy white clouds, and sun for their outdoor photos – what timing!
It was then back to the Carriage House Inn for a rockin’ reception. One thing to know and love about Alex & Jon is that they LOVE breakfast – so obviously it was a no brainer decision for them to serve breakfast for their dinner – so neat!
With so many wonderful, heartfelt, funny, and moving speeches combined with an epic dance party, complete with a breakdancing groom, their reception was as fun as you would imagine and expect with these two awesome peeps!
We loved getting to know and work with Alex & Jon – we seriously cannot wait for their post-wedding Celebrate session, and the chance to see them again. We always leave our hangouts feeling uplifted, happy, and having had some really awesome laughs!
