Canadian Rockies Wedding Photographer | Classic Winter Wedding in Canmore

Erica and Robert are partners in life, and partners on the ice. They’re competitive figure skaters, recently married in a winter wedding in Canmore! And if you know Raf, you’ll be surprised to hear this took him a little out of his comfort zone…

Raf first met Erica and Robert last summer for their engagement photo session. They found a fab spot in Banff National Park full of soft, purple fireweed. Here’s a glimpse:

They reunited for Erica and Robert’s winter wedding at Canmore Golf & Curling Club. It was a beautiful December day. The wedding was inside, in front of the big stone fireplace. Local commissioner Patrick Smiley created a warm and wonderful ceremony that matched this gorgeous couple perfectly.

Photos skating on the pond were really important to them (for obvious reasons). So after the ceremony, Raf, Erica and Robert, and their wedding party jumped in the limo and zipped up to Lake Minnewanka in Banff–which you might say is a little bigger than a “pond.” It’s 28km long.

We love that Banff is so close to Canmore. We’re incredibly blessed to be able to pop down the highway to our next door town for so many more incredible photography locations.

Raf later told me how graceful and comfortable Erica and Robert were on their skates–so at ease and clearly in their element. I thought Raf would connect with this, being an avid ice climber–a World Cup champion competitor (2014) in fact. But it turns out…

Raf and horizontal ice not the best of friends ha! He climbs vertical ice competitively, hikes how high up mountains, but put him on flat ice and he’s like Bambi on the ice. Too funny and quite cute actually.

After frolicking on the ice, the group came back to Canmore for photos with the Mt. Rundle range, one of the most beautiful Canadian Rockies mountain ranges, and Grassi Lakes in the backdrop.

When it came time for the dance party, the biggest partiers were easily Erica and her dad! They hit the dance floor and had an AMAZING time, dancing it up with their fab moves. Scroll on down to check out the photos.

Raf and I have been married for almost eight years and we share a business together, so we know marriage is all about partnership. And Erica and Robert are a beautiful example of true partners in every sense. We know they’ll have an incredible life together.
